GHD House unveiled at Commercial Bay as global engineering company takes naming rights for 21 Queen Street
The GHD name is now visible on the Auckland skyline, following the installation of building signage at 21 Queen Street over the weekend, formally marking global professional services company GHD’s naming rights at the heart of Commercial Bay.
The milestone signals GHD’s long-term commitment to the precinct, with the company securing naming rights to the building as part of a 12-year agreement with Precinct Properties, New Zealand’s largest owner and developer of premium city centre space. GHD will occupy three contiguous floors at what is now GHD House, at 21 Queen Street with its 200-strong Auckland team set to relocate from their Freeman’s Bay premises in 2027.
Siobhan Hartwell, GHD’s New Zealand Pacific General Manager says, “Auckland’s growth brings opportunity and responsibility. Establishing GHD House is a clear marker of our long-term commitment to Tāmaki Makaurau and brings us closer to our clients, partners and the organisations shaping the city’s future, ahead of our planned relocation in 2027.” Anthony Randell, General Manager Property at Precinct says this move from GHD is a strong signal of the ongoing shift in how businesses think about their workplace.
“This agreement reflects a continued flight to quality in Auckland’s commercial property market, with leading businesses choosing locations that actively support staff attraction and retention, connectivity, and profile.
“Where you are headquartered shapes how you attract and retain talent, how you engage clients and how your business is perceived, and we know the superb level of amenity that Precinct provides is a key driver for clients. We’re delighted to welcome GHD to our community and look forward to their full team moving into GHD House next year,” says Randell.
Commercial Bay’s three levels of retail and hospitality are anchored by five office towers including 21 Queen Street (GHD House). As Auckland’s most connected mixed-use precinct, it integrates premium office accommodation with world-class retail, dining and hospitality, and direct access to the Waitematā transport hub.
“The amenity on offer at Commercial Bay is central to its appeal. In a market where businesses are increasingly selecting locations based on what they can offer their people, not just square metres, the combination of vibrant retail and hospitality, transport connectivity and a dynamic working community is a genuine competitive advantage,” say Randell.
GHD’s Auckland team of more than 200 people delivers advisory, digital, engineering, architecture, environmental and construction solutions across transport,
water, energy and resources, environment and property and buildings. When the team moves into GHD House in 2027, they will benefit directly from the precinct’s connectivity, amenity and working community.
